Yesterday I thought I would be finished the 32 chapter book… Looking like it’s going to be a 35-36 chapter book after all, but hopefully finishing it today or tomorrow.
At this point well over 200k words into this word these characters deserve a proper finish to their story, and I want to make sure I don’t leave too many open doors.
“Xia” is a totally new addition to the Liberty world. She hails from Tianjin China.
She’s the daughter of a well known, respected and feared former crime boss. Her father has turned legitimate in his old age, and despite her parents insistence she follow in their step Xia wants to find her own way.
Xia is searching for her place in a world devastated by Iapetus’s nuclear weapon. She’s intrigued by the underworld around her, and she’s good at getting things done by any means necessary.
She believes in striving for a balance of her mind, body, and spirit, and the opportunity to tilt those scales is going to land right in her lap, but it will involve a great deal of danger and potentially sacrifice on her part.
Elliot “Tom” Thompson
A seasoned agent who knows field work, and who also has a firm grasp on what is at home worth fighting for. He’s new to making the decisions instead of being in the field, but he willing to put himself out there if that’s what it takes to keep the world safe.
Tom dedicated 30 years to the org. and he’s still fighting, but he also wants to have a life. He’s building a relationship with his parents and has his eye on a certain coworker as a romantic interest.
He’s going to find himself overwhelmed with the responsibility of leading a war against Iapetus, and also trying to keep his people safe. The question for Tom will be can he trust his people enough to step back and let them take the fight while he directs?
So today I decided I wanted to focus my next few posts on character profiles. I’m about 1/4th of the way into the rough draft of Not With A Bang… and it’s going smashingly!
I think part of the reason is because at this point–book 3–in the trilogy I have well established characters, who we know, love or hate, and I get to mix in some totally new fresh blood to stir the pot.
Like the other books in the trilogy this one is 4 stories, different, but interlaced with each other. I want to tell you a little bit about the main character in each of those 4 stories over the next few days.
